How to Move Forward With Intention
Spring is around the corner and that means a shift in the seasons, as well as the energy we carry with it. But let’s not forget, we can acknowledge the return of energy without tying it to hustle or pressure.
It’s time to encourage more intentional action grounded in self-awareness
There’s often an unspoken expectation to do more, move faster, or capitalize on momentum. At Rooted Renewal, we approach forward movement differently.
Moving forward isn't about pushing. It’s about listening. It’s about allowing action to arise from awareness rather than urgency.
First, what’s energy and what’s intention. Why does it all matter?
Intention, simply put, is what one tends to do, or bring about. What are you intending to do with this next season of life? What type of outcome are you intending for?
It’s really important to stop and ask yourself this question when you notice a shift in energy, and perhaps the return of some of your energy. It’s a seasonal wellness transition that happens every year, as it always does. The days start to get a little longer. Plants, trees, and flowers start growing back. It’s a beautiful season of aliveness, and growth.
When energy returns, we don’t have to meet it with pressure. We can meet it with curiosity.
With that being said, we wanted to share a few grounded energy practices that might help you navigate the shifts. Let’s dive in!
Let’s clear up any confusion here by noting the difference between reactive energy vs. grounded energy. Not all energy feels the same, even when it’s productive.
Reactive energy often feels rushed or scattered. It might be driven by external expectations or fueled by comparison or urgency. Fatigue or depletion usually follows. Grounded energy, on the other hand, feels steady and anchored, while being rooted in clarity. You’re more connected to breath and body. Most importantly? It’s sustainable over time.
At our retreats, we focus on cultivating grounded energy.
The kind that allows action to feel aligned rather than forced.
Practice Channeling Fresh Energy Mindfully
We’re not talking a full reset to move forward with intention. More like finding a few small consistent practices that can help guide energy where it’s most needed. Plant the seed, tend to the garden, and watch it grow. A way to regulate the nervous system.
2 of our favorite ways to practice this?
Breath-Led Movement
Let your breath lead your movement rather than forcing shape or effort. Notice where the body wants to open and where it asks for stability.
One Meaningful Focus
Instead of juggling many intentions, choose one area to tend to. Depth often creates more impact than multitasking.
Take Yourself & Your Life Off Auto Pilot
We know, we know. Routines are GOOD yes BUT sometimes getting too stuck in routine gets you stuck in other avenues of life. When you find yourself in auto pilot you forget to stop and smell the roses. Quit missing the small aspects of your everyday life.
Sometimes we’re in certain positions because during that season in our life we needed to be. That position may be a stepping stone and we may have plans to transition onto better, but if we get stuck in a normal routine, we never make the time to do what’s needed to prepare for the next level.
How do you do this, you ask? Take a different route home! Try a new restaurant! Find a different walk / hike. Notice what you notice. What’s different here, how do you feel? Sign up for that yoga retreat you’ve been eyeing! ;)
A Little Spring Cleaning, Anyone?
Start to remove what’s not going to serve this new intention. People, places, habits, and things. Just be honest here, and be graceful.
Start by sitting down and finding a few deep breaths. Journal a bit about something or someone that comes to mind, and see where it goes. The answer will be in small acts such as this..

Encourage Intentional Action
Before movement, pause.
Before goals, check in.
Before direction, listen inward.
Intentional action at Rooted Renewal is grounded in self-awareness by encouraging participants to notice their internal cues, honor their personal pace instead of pushing through and most importantly, letting clarity emerge before making commitments
When we move from this place, action feels purposeful, not performative.
You don’t need a full reset to move forward with intention. Small, consistent practices can help guide energy where it’s most needed.
Moving Forward, Gently
Moving forward doesn’t require urgency. It requires presence.
When we allow energy to guide us; instead of rushing to use it, we create space for actions that feel rooted, intentional, and sustainable.
At Rooted Renewal, we believe that true progress begins with awareness. From there, movement becomes less about doing more and more about doing what matters.
